Wanna try something fun? Experiment with Rooibos Tea to dye fabrics!

Tea has been used for centuries as a natural way to stain fabrics with colour. Rooibos tea, being red, leaves your fabric with a orange-red tone, depending on the fabric. Also the strength of the tea and the soaking time will influence the colour. Dying a fabric with tea can give it an old rustic or vintage appearance.

Tea dying can be a fun interactive way for kids to create their own T-shirt designs without involving any harsh chemicals. Tea dyed fabrics or clothing can also be a wonderful gift friends and family.

Make sure to wash your garments with cold water and mild soap otherwise they will not last as long as you would like. Commercial and chemical cleaners are made to remove stains from clothing, so this will ruin all the hard work you’ve done! Tea dyeing is not recommended as a long term clothing dye, but it can work great for fun experiments or costume creation.
